Park Board Record

The following provides a chronological listing of the motions I brought to Park Board over the past three and a half years that were passed either unanimously or by a majority of my fellow commissioners:

  • Institute a commemorative tree and shrub planting program for individuals, groups and organizations as a way to mark an anniversary, birth, death, or other event
  • Implement the actions outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that lie within the jurisdiction of Park Board
  • Clean up and improve water quality in False Creek and Vancouver beaches
  • Endorse the City of Vancouver becoming a Living Wage employer
  • Sponsor poetry in parks initiatives with the Vancouver Public Library
  • Institute an “Access without Fear” policy for parks and recreation programs
  • Simplify event permit applications for community groups
  • Develop a new funding model for community centres in low-income neighbourhoods
  • Promote resident involvement in watering street trees during summer drought conditions
  • Invite the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations to consider re-naming Siwash Rock
  • Affirm the use of community centres as overnight emergency warming shelters
  • Require the inclusion of safety measures for women and other at-risk groups when issuing permits for music concerts and other major events
